Take Our QuizAs seen below, more than half of all states, 28 of 50, have introduced at least one piece of menopause-related legislation, with 28 state bills introduced in 2026 alone. A total of 21 have now been enacted across 10 states, most recently three in Illinois in August 2026.
This wave of legislation reflects a growing and accelerating commitment to women's health. Policymakers are increasingly recognizing that menopause is more than bothersome symptoms, it is a key part of women's health that has been routinely under-treated, under-researched, and under-funded. Momentum this year is increasingly translating into enacted law, not just introduced bills: of the 28 bills newly introduced in 2026, 8 (more than one in four) have already crossed the finish line and been signed.
